When people from near and far hear the name of Longview, Texas, likely or not they will say, "Johnny Cace's Restaurant" and the "Reo Palm Isle." Opened in 1935, some of the Reo's best moments were when it gave future stars like Jim Reeves their start. Johnny Cace's Restaurant continues its rich tradition of being one of the best and most famous seafood and steakhouses in East Texas.

Longview is where the invention genius R. G. LeTourneau made his manufacturing mark with the electric wheel, which drives giant earthmoving machines. The domes of LeTourneau are there, as is LeTourneau University, which is judged to be one of the top ten private universities of its size in the United States.
