Located in the Historical 1927 Fire Department Headquarters, the Fire Museum is recognized by the State Firemen's and Fire Marshall's Association as the Official Fire Museum of Texas. Visit Texas' Largest Fire Hydrant and an expansive collection of vintage firefighting equipment, engines, and memorabilia. Discover the history of the fire service and the development of the fire engine as you move through the exhibits.
Included in the collections are a 1856 hand-drawn tub pumper, a 1909 Aerial Ladder truck, and the county's first searchlight truck, and a Gamewell Call Box Alarm System used before there were telephones.
Upstairs, see the international collection, the firefighter's dormitory, the original brass pole, practice fire drills in the child size house and learn fire safety in the hands-on Children's Activity Center. The kid friendly museum offer perfect photo opportunities in the nostalgic setting. Children can dress up in turn our gear and pretend to drive the fire truck simulator.
The C.A. "Pete" Shelton Memorial Park offers an opportunity to pay tribute to firefighters and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The museum gift shop offers a unique selection of fire-related gifts, souvenirs for the whole family, and postcards.
