Salary: The City of Madisonville offers a competitive salary Commensurate with qualifications and experience. A full range of leave and insurance is also provided.
The Director reports to the City Manager with input from the newly created Convention and Tourism Board; is responsible for developing and implementing strategies which generate tourism, including marketing, planning, research and related duties; represents the City of Madisonville as a liaison for various community organizations at meetings, conferences, and trade shows; works with representatives from the City, County, Chamber of Commerce and hospitality industry; oversees the effective operations of the Truman Kimbro Convention Center; promotes local events through appropriate and effective media; generates special reports and packets as requested.
Successful candidate must be willing to relocate to Madison County.

Tourism Coordinator

Job Summary and Principal Duties:
This position performs various clerical duties including filing, answering multiple telephone lines, data entry, typing. This individual must be able to perform multiple tasks with continuous interruptions.

General Summary
Manages the daily operations of the City of Jefferson Tourism Department; plans, coordinates, and markets activities to enhance the City’s image as a destination for conventions, corporate meetings, business and leisure travel, tours, events, etc. Serves as the primary sales and booking agent for the Jefferson Transportation and Visitors Center
Supervision
General supervision is provided by the City Administrator.
Transportation and Visitor Center on an as needed basis.
Minimum Job Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred from an accredited college or university with major coursework in travel, hospitality and tourism; marketing/advertising; communications; public relations; public administration; business administration or closely related field.
Three to five years of related experience in the convention, tourism, hotel sales, hospitality or similar industries is preferred. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Executive Director
Lufkin Convention & Tourism Bureau

Job Description
The Executive Director reports to the Lufkin Convention & Tourism Bureau (LCTB) Board of Directors and is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Bureau. The Executive Director plans, coordinates, and markets activities to further the mission of the LCTB. He/she is also responsible for administering and executing the policies, plans, and strategies approved by the Board. As a spokesperson for the LCTB and the community's tourism industry, the Executive Director interfaces directly with key business leaders, association and industry representatives, government representatives, members of the media, and the community at large.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, public administration, business administration, or related field. Prior CVB (or comparable) experience is required. The successful candidate must have experience in developing and implementing marketing plans and long-range strategic plans. The successful candidate must also have previous experience in fiscal management and budget development and in leading and managing a team. A minimum of one year supervisory experience is required.
